Since I have soooo many DIY’s on my Pinterest board, I decided to tackle a few of them this week. I spent two hours at Hobby Lobby (which is soooo easy to do) looking for materials to vintage-up my contemporary lampshade on my desk. I thought I wanted embroidered floral appliqués, but that didn’t pan out.
Plan B was felt flowers I’ve been eyeing on Pinterest. I found several tutorials. (I love Google!) Here’s one with really good instructions and photos.
My results:

What do you think!?! I think it turned out lovely! I’m still brain-storming searching on Google for a tutorial on how to arrange these on my lampshade with jute string…?
There are a few more felt flower tutorials I plan on trying like this rose, a pomela, and this dahlia. If you have any great tutorials for making felt flowers, send them my way!
Next up was two little birdies I found a couple of months ago at Hobby Lobby (HL). I usually don’t like bird decor, but these appealed to me. I sprayed the Red one with Cherry Krylon, used sandpaper to give it that aged/vintage look, and a Sharpie to color the eye black..haha!
I still have some more sanding to do on the red one before I start the ivory one. I will finish them with a clear gloss. I ♥ them!

Hmm…what next? Oh! I found a pack of three large jute decor balls at HL on SALE! I dyed the natural one with RIT–Scarlet Red, of course.

Here’s all the balls, y’all!

All this crafting made me ravenous. I really should have juiced, but there’s always tomorrow…
I made Homemade Pepperoni Pizza and Ice Cream Nachos. I will be avoiding the scale for at least a week! XO~Gabrielle
